The youngest of 6 children, Mike began working for the family business at the age of 16. He immediately took an interest in the day to day administrative operations and found that he excelled in business affairs, so much so that he went on to graduate from the University of Whitewater with a degree in Business & Administration in 1987. Mike Bluemel has dedicated himself to improving and expanding his family business while maintaining the vision and standards his parents set forth over 50 years ago.
John began his career in 1999 and has been managing our retail division for the past 13 years.
He also plays a significant role in Bluemel’s marketing campaigns and promotional strategies- operating our social media sites, designing and managing our website, as well as planning and producing all of the promotional events we offer to our customers. In addition, he is very active in representing Bluemel’s at various community events and functions. John also controls our holiday display portion of the business and our fundraiser programs! He is a proud board member of the Commercial Flower Growers of Wisconsin (CFGW), the Gardens Beautiful Garden Centers (GBGC), the Wisconsin Green Industry Federation (WGIF), and the Greendale Chamber of Commerce (GCC). As you can see, John is very passionate about his career and the green industry as a whole.
Carlos joined Bluemel’s in 2000 bringing with him several years of lawn care experience. He began his career on one of our residential lawn crews and quickly rose to become one of our commercial lawn maintenance foremen. Carlos now manages the entire Lawn Maintenance Division and oversees all residential as well as commercial lawn maintenance operations. Carlos is extremely proud of the solid relationships he has developed with many of the Condo Associations and their boards. His fluency in Spanish has proven to be an extremely valuable asset to the company.
Scott has been climbing the ranks at Bluemel’s ever since he started in 2002. He began his career at Bluemel’s as a general laborer in landscape and playground construction. It wasn’t too long before his hard work and dedication paid off and landed him a promotion as lead foreman. Scott has extensive experience out in the work field having physically performed all aspects of landscaping as well as playground construction. Combine Scott’s experience with his penchant for being able to troubleshoot and problem solve, and he possesses all of the necessary tools he needs to be an excellent addition to our sales force since he truly knows what it takes to get the job done.

Crystal has been an intregal part of the business for over 15 years. Formerly our head florist designer, Crystal has been a big part of our growing production and retail decision making since we eliminated the florist department in 2006. Currently she fields all of our landscape and lawn appointment calls and schedules appointments to the appropriate sales associate. She also oversees our follow-up process and is always on hand to assist our customers should there be any unforeseen issues that develop. Crystal plays a major role in making sure all communication lines are open so that our sales force and crews can effectively accomodate our client's needs. Her attention to detail and commitment to superior service makes her an important member of lawn and landscape department.
Rachel has been with Bluemel's for close to a decade now and is a key member of our retail operation. Rachel supervises our check-out staff and makes sure that our POS system is operating properly, and that sales transactions are performed correctly at all times. She also monitors our phone answering procedures. Lately she has been taking on more responsibilities in our retail department as she now has an increased role in selecting our retail items for the season, as well as product inventory and sales trend analytics.
Mrs. Bluemel has played a major role in Bluemel's growth and success over the years having been a part of many different areas of the family business. From ordering products to helping out at the registers during the busy months, Lori is always there to offer up her assistance where there is a need. Lori's positive and encouraging spirit is contagious, and she sets the bar with her superior customer service skills.
Nate has been a valued employee at Bluemel's for several years now, and his hands-on approach as well as his willingness to learn have afforded him many opportunities to move up in the company. He began his career at Bluemel's as one of our landscape crewmen- eventually earning the position as head foreman. Nate's experience, knowledge and work ethic make him an easy choice and perfect fit for our always expanding landscape sales force.
Sara's extensive plant knowledge, superior customer service skills, and retail experience make her the perfect fit for our Greenhouse Supervisor position. Sara has taken on a more involved roll in our plant ordering and displays, fundraisers, and sales team leadership responsibilities. Her cheerful attitude and knack for putting people at ease make her a customer favorite!
Jim has worked at Bluemel's periodically through-out the years, pitching in wherever and whenever he was needed. One of four Bluemel sons, Jim has been a very reliable asset to the family business and is thrilled to have now signed on to a full-time sales position in our Landscape Department. His warm personailty and sense of humor make him a customer and staff favorite. Bluemel's is confident that bringing Jim onboard full-time will substantially benefit the dpartment... after all, it's in his blood!
After graduating from UW-Parkside, Jeremy joined Bluemel’s and has been a key member of the company for over a decade. He has experience in all aspects of what Bluemel’s Maintenance Departments have to offer: landscaping, lawn maintenance, playground construction, poured-in-place surfacing, and snow removal. He prides himself in upholding the reputation established by the Bluemel family of quality service for every customer.
Commercial Facilities Supervisor
Terry has recently been promoted to oversee various privately-owned accounts with his main responsibility being the Downtown Greendale shopping center. Everything from plant maintenance to holiday lighting & displays is on Terry's long list of year-round duties at this high profile property. His prior experience in facility management for an apartment community has made him a no-brainer when this position became available. We're excited to see what Terry brings to his new role in our company.
